The Leafs had their best first period of the season in this game, dominating the Flyers 9-2 at even strength, including two goals in the first five minutes that left Philadelphia reeling. The Flyers did manage to generate some chances on a powerplay, but Toronto were in command after one.
The two teams were pretty even in the second, with Toronto having the upper hand in the first half of the frame, but the Flyers responding strongly, getting seven of the last eight chances of the period, capping it with a goal from Kimmo Timonen to cut the lead to one.
While the Leafs managed to blow a pair of leads in the third, it was actually a pretty strong performance from them, relative to how things have gone in third periods this year, as they actually outchanced the Flyers, 5-3. However, a pair of Flyer goals, sandwiching a Mason Raymond marker, pushed the game to overtime, where Joffrey Lupul scored on the only chance.
Back to back wins in chances, as the Leafs dominated the game, winning ES chances 22-12, and close chances 7-1, thanks to their hot start.

A rare night without the top line scoring, and while they still generated chances, they were all negative, including Bozak, tied for a team-worst -4. Making up for it was the fourth line, which has been a real weak point, but thanks to a couple of strong shifts, was spectacular in this game, McLaren a +6, Bodie a +5 and McClement a +7. Nazem Kadri also had another excellent game, posting a +8. Lupul and Kulemin, his linemates were also very strong.
Easily the best game of Morgan Rielly's career, as in 15 minutes he wasn't on for a single ES chance against, and was on for 8 Leaf chances, tied with Kadri at +8, easily beating his previous best. Paul Ranger also had a good night, at +6, but the star was Tim Gleason, on for 10 Leaf chances and a game-best +9. In all this, Dion Phaneuf had a very poor game, equaling Bozak to sit at -4.

Deadline acquisition Andrew MacDonald was terrible, a game-worst -8, along with Wayne Simmonds. The line that kept Philly alive was Hartnell-Giroux and Voracek, all solid positives, along with Kimmo Timonen, who scored two of the Flyer goals. Brayden Schenn was a -7, Luke Schenn a -7, and the fourth line guys, Hall, Rinaldo and Rosehill, were victimized by their Leaf counterparts, each -5.
