Game 3 - TOR 6, NYR 3 - Leafs chase Lundqvist as power play fires in victory

Toronto were terrible at even strength in the first period, and early in the second, but scored five goals in a ten minute period in the second period to establish an unassailable lead.

Again, the Leafs were badly beaten at both  ES and ES close; it was the powerplay, which was extremely effective, that powered their victory. The penalty killing was also excellent, as the Leafs actually outchanced the Rangers while New York had the extra man.

Not many positives for the Leafs; the line of Santorelli with Komarov and Clarkson ended up with good numbers at the end of the night, but were terrible in the early game, when the score was close. The top line, despite the goals, was again terrible offensively, and it was the second line, with Kadri and Lupul, which was again the best.

Polak was horrible again; him leading the Leafs in ES ice time seems like a good way for this team to lose a lot of games. Robidas also struggled, and while Rielly was good early before tailing off, as did Franson.

Marty St. Louis was excellent, as was the team of Klein and Staal, and rookie Duclair, who consistently impressed with his speed.

After the terrible ES close game from that third line, there are no Leafs above 50% in that category. Lupul and Kadri are the best, while the third line did stay above 50% at ES overall. Polak and Franson sit at the bottom of the defence, and while Gardiner, who sat, is at the top of the defence at ES overall.
